Welcome to the Gryphons Women's Volleyball Adopt-A-Gryphon webpage.
The goal of the Adopt-A-Gryphon program is to raise funds to support program enhancement for each varsity team. For example, funds can be used to purchase team equipment, support out of conference (exhibition) competition or provide additional training aids; all with the intent of enhancing the student-athlete experience and making our teams more competitive. While individual athletes are encouraged to help raise funds to support their team's Adopt-A-Gryphon goal, it is important to note that the funds raised are used to benefit the entire team.
The women’s volleyball program has gradually built itself up through hard work and sacrifice with numerous student-athletes contributing along the path that has resulted in three OUA Final Four appearances in the last 5 years including an OUA silver medal in 2010-11. As we continue to build our program, our goal is to win the University of Guelph’s first OUA championship in women’s volleyball. To do so, a number of needs have been identified that will help us become a better team and compete for the OUA title. These include:
- A once-a-year out-of-province exhibition travel trip to compete against Canada’s best teams
- Training aids including blocking aids, setting targets, ball carts, etc.
- Video equipment including digital cameras, laptop computers, iPads, tripods & cables, etc.
- Video breakdown and statistical analysis services
The out-of-province travel would help us to compete against Canada West teams and other top teams from Quebec and the Atlantic provinces as it is necessary to play against the best opposition possible in order to reach your full potential. The training aids can help with practice needs to ensure a top calibre training environment. Video and game tape analysis aid in performance analysis for today's athletes and their different learning styles.
Our goal is to raise $400 per player for this season’s training and preparation with the majority of the funds going towards funding a trip to BC in January to compete against some of the best programs in the country. We would like your support in reaching our goals by contributing to the Adopt-A-Gryphon program.
