Smiling Blue Skies – Woof-fit Tofino Mini-Triathlon June 19th, 2016

The Second Annual “Tofino Woof-fit Mini-Triathlon” for Dogs and Their People, will take place on June 18th, 2017, on spectacular  North Chesterman Beach, in beautiful Tofino, British Columbia.

Funds raised at this very special event will benefit The Smiling Blue Skies ® Cancer Fund, part of the University of Guelph’s Veterinary College and Teaching Hospital Pet Trust.

Since the spring of 2001, The Smiling Blue Skies ® Cancer Fund has been supporting OVC Pet Trust’s quest to find more and and better ways to deal with the devastating disease that is cancer, and together, we have raised over $1.6 million!!

Right now, you are helping to fund over ONE DOZEN oncology studies, including:  Acute Myeloid Leukemia Study, Analysis of Cytokines in Dogs with Multicentric Lymphoma Teated with the Madison-Wisconsin Protocol, microRNA profiling for Diagnosis and Prognosis, Prognostication of Canine T-cell Lymphoma, Effects of Benadryl in Dogs Undergoing Surgery for Mast Cell Tumours, Analysis of Cytokines in Dogs with Osteosarcoma Treated with Amputation, Radiation and/or Chemotherapy, and Investigating Biomarkers for Metronomic (Low Dose) Cyclophosphamide Treatment for Canine Soft Tissue Sarcoma.

You also helped fund the very first Hemangiosarcoma Validation Study and North America’s first Cancer Registry for Companion Animals.

Smiling Blue Skies offers 24/7 support to anyone whose life has been touched by cancer.

Thank you to all the heroes out there, whether all grown up or “reaching tall,” all giants in our eyes, who are helping to take a bite out of cancer on behalf of the precious pets and people in our lives.

Up to 50 dog/human teams will run, walk, ride, pedal, swim, wade, paddle, or row, in a mini-triathalon, course, along the expanse of Chesterman Beach, by “The Wickaninnish Inn.”

There will be something for everyone, including a “Kids Zone,” with the “Pacific Rim Arts Society!!"

Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m., and we’ll be off to the races at 10:00 a.m.
