Thank you for visiting my personal page. The Smiling Blue Skies has been ongoing since 2001. In 2016, I along with my 4.5yr Bernese Mountain Dog – Sadie – joined the crusade with Sadie hauling her draft cart for 4km. Thank goodness she had her cart as the weather warmed up and she ended up hauling our extra jackets and water.
On April 29 Sadie (6.5yr) and Takoda (6mths), both Bernese Mountain dogs and myself will be participating in the 2018 Calgary Smiling Blue Skies walk for cancer at South Glenmore Park in hopes that our beloved family, friends and our fury four legged kids never have to battle this horrible disease.
In memory of my mother who lost her battle with pancreatic cancer at 50, my two golden retriever fur-babies – Tanner and Sandy – and to Murphy Doodle (my Aunt and Uncles 6yr old black Labrador) who is heroically still fighting his own battle with Chondrosarcoma. On April 7, 2017 he had a 6 lbs tumor removed from his spleen and on December 1 he had another chondrosarcoma removed from his ‘man parts.’
100% of the pledges go to the Ontario Veterinary College Pet Trust through the Smiling Blue Skies cancer fund for researching and treating companion animal cancer. The knowledge grown through these studies is shared with human research which makes this cause two-fold.
Please help us make a difference.
Warm huge hugs,
Kari, Sadie and Takoda
