Andrea Lynn McGowen (nee Brady), passed suddenly on February 18, 2024. She was only 52 years old. Andrea is deeply missed by her loving family; husband, Drew; son, Jacob; stepdaughter, Samatha; her mom, brother, and many, many, extended family.
Andrea was pragmatic, genuine, sharp – a true force in her family, industry, and community. Andrea was known to be always talking about her family, first and foremost; a devoted friend; a passionate advocate for those she knew and loved; a champion of women in business; an ever-moving do-er; a fierce competitor; a fastidious party thrower; a most reliable party joiner; a sincere listening ear. Andrea left an indelible mark on those lucky to be in her circle, share in her laughs, and enjoy a cheers.
Andrea was a kind and thoughtful soul. She was a cherished friend and a well-respected veteran in the real estate industry. Her warmth and contagious smile touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was a champion of women in business and for over 25 years, her career path remained steadfastly aligned with her passion for retail real estate—from leasing and marketing to property management.
Andrea's influence was beyond measure and her absence will be felt more profoundly than words can express. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
To honor Andrea’s memory, her family, friends, and colleagues have established the Andrea McGowen Memorial Retail Scholarship at the University of Guelph to celebrate her leadership and contributions to the retail real estate industry. This entrance scholarship will be awarded to the top student entering the real estate major program at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics at the University of Guelph.
Any and all donations are welcomed and appreciated. Andrea is missed by her family, friends and colleagues and a scholarship in her name will enable her memory to be kept alive while supporting future aspiring real estate professionals.
